Gilberto Pérez Lechuga got the doctor of engineering in 1993. He is a senior researcher at applied mathematics and operations research with industrial applications. He is especially known for his work in the areas of industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, reliability engineering, financial engineering, logistics engineering and modeling and optimization of agricultural and livestock systems. His areas of interest include stochastic modeling and optimization systems, bio-inspired algorithms (swarm intelligence) and metaheuristics, simulation and the Monte Carlo method, dynamical emergent systems, stochastic flexible manufacturing systems and mathematical modeling of the supply chain, stochastic finances and stochastic differential equations, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science. He is an industrial consultant with more than 18 years of experience in the analysis, design and implementation of methods and models for the optimization of industrial processes at an international level. He has published more than 230 scientific articles and 15 books and book chapters in his area of specialty.
